Junior League Doora Barefield vs Kilmaley
The final round game in this division 4 junior league campaign was played Sunday evening April 29th in Kilmaley.
This time Ciara Duggan stepped between the posts and pulled off some marvellous saves.
Yet again strong winds dominated play and the St. Joseph girls did well to go in at half time one point up, with scores from Aisling Hannon, Kiera McGrath and Amy Lenihan.
The second half saw the homeside step up a gear and score two consecutive goals leaving St. Joseph’s with an uphill battle to climb. Defenders were under immense pressure and midfielders Karen O’Brien & Aoife Shannon worked hard to produce the sliotar to the forward line under a great deal of pressure.
But amid April thunder showers, blinding sunshine and a spectacular rainbow, Kilmaley emerged as winners finishing out with a better scoreline to claim home victory. Final score Kilmaley 4-3 St. Joseph’s 1-7
