St. Joseph’s D/B Senior V Eire Og
A rematch of last years 2015 Intermediate final. Goals from Ciara Whelan, Louise Woods, Orlaith Lynch and Erin Hennessy helped St. Josephs to a comfortable win over the town side in Éire Óg last Saturday afternoon.
The parish side led from the outset and were 1-4 to 0-3 ahead after the first quarter. They got on top from the throw in, with Erin Hennessy, Roisín Kennedy and Caitriona Hennessy giving the Éire Óg defence a tough time.
When the half time whistle sounded, the winners were four clear, 1-5 to 0-4,they were the more dominant team for the remainder of the game, and by mid-point of the second half, they had stretched their advantage to 3-9 to 0-6.
In the final ten minutes, Louise Woods and Erin Hennessy converted two points for the winners, while Amy Broderick replied with a point with five minutes remaining.
Things got worse for the home side before the final whistle when Erin Hennessy turned a Sarah Hoey delivery into the Éire Óg net. Louise Woods, the teams top scorer with 1-6, all from play, Erin Hennessy, Orlaith Lynch & Orla Moloney did well for the winners, while Grainne Nolan and Amy Broderick impressed for Éire Óg.
