St. Joseph’s Doora Barefield played Ballyhea in the U14 -B championship in Gurteen on 11-Apr. St. Joseph’s opened strongly in the first half, despite this being their opening game of the championship. Both teams fought very fair and honestly throughout, with many fine scores from both teams.
The standard and commitment was of a very high standard. Some long range free scoring from Katie Callaghan added to the Barefield score line in both halves. St. Joseph goal scorers included Amber Pigott, a long range free from Katie and a goal mouth scramble from Ellen Mannion. Other strong performers for St. Josephs included Hannah Doyle, Sinead O’Connor, Shauna Moloney, Laura Butler and Emma McGrath. This performance marked a significant improvement from the St. Joseph’s girls who now look forward to Tulla as their next opponents.
