U14B Semi Final

In glorious sunshine on Wed 25th of May, Sixmilebridge travelled to Gurteen to take on the maroon & white home team in the semi final stage of the U14B Championship. Having been narrowly beaten already by the home team in round 4, The Bridge were determined to up the anty and they were first out of the traps with a fast goal followed by 2 points without a response from the St. Joseph girls.

But the second half turned the tables when the home side slipped into gear and landed 2 fast goals from full forward Naoise Slattery and mid fielder Alannah Meaney making it a cracking and tense spectacle of camogie to watch. They followed this with a lovely point from Emma Towey now leaving them with a two point advantage, but the physical Sixmilebridge girls, despite super saves from goalie Katie Callaghan, managed another goal and point in the dying minutes to go ahead and finish by only the narrowest of margins:
SMB 2-4 St. Joseph’s 2-3.

Hard luck Girls, you left your hearts on the pitch & took heavy hits, it was a fabulous journey to here, Féile Runners Up & gold in Community Games achieved to date. U14’s may have concluded but we still have U12’s, U13’s & U15’s to look forward to and mentors simply could not be more proud.
Best of luck to The Bridge in the final next week!St. Joseph’s Team
