Community Games 2016 Camogie Winners St. Joseph’s D/B

Doora Barefield U14 Girls played their hearts out to win first prize in Clare Community Games. In horrendous weather conditions the Maroon & White overcame Clooney/Quin in a hard fought quarter final winning 2-0 to 0-2 points.

Next up was Sixmilebridge/Kilmurray in the semi final beating them 4-3 to 1-1 paving their way to the final.

In terrible underfoot conditions & hailstones beating down on our girls they left their hearts on the pitch when they beat Derg on a score line of 3-4 to no score. When the referee finally blew the whistle the Parish women where overcome with joy collecting the prestigious gold medal & are honoured to represent their county in the Munster’s in July. Truly great performances from our goalie, defenders, midfielders & forwards. Úna Ní Choileáin was Captain  and played to her title.

Many thanks to Newmarket on Fergus GAA for the pitch, Áine & Joe referees and all mammy’s & daddy’s & siblings for support & coffees – a truly wonderful day for the parish! Onwards & upwards girls.
