U14A Boys Hurling Championship

Friday 12th May 2017         Inagh/Kilnamona 4-07     Doora Barefield 2-16

On Friday evening, Doora Barefield U14s travelled to Inagh to take on Inagh/Kilnamona in a ‘must’ win game for both sides in the U14A Hurling Championship. Both sides needed a win to be in a position to make the knockout stages with two games remaining after this fixture.

Early exchanges were tight and only a point between the sides throughout the first half with Inagh/Kilnamona playing with the advantage of the wind. However, Doora-Barefield got a goal before half time to go into the break with the advantage on a scoreline of Doora Barefield 1-06 to 0-06 for Inagh Kilnamona.

With the wind behind them for the second half, it looked like Doora-Barefield were in a strong position to go on and win this game comfortably. However, Inagh- Kilnamona battled hard and took the lead on a number of occasions as they found the net four times during the second half. To the Doora-Barefield boy’s credit, they battled back each time and took some great scores to recover and despite a nervous ending, they recorded a victory on a scoreline of Doora Barefield 2-16 to Inagh Kilnamona’s 4-07.

Plenty room for improvement for the Doora Barefield boys as they move into the last two games of the qualifying section. Up next is a clash with Clarecastle, where again both sides need the win to guarantee any chance of progressing to knockout section.
