This was a great entertaining game played in perfect conditions in Kildysart on Sunday evening.
Doora Barefield got off to a great start with 2 goals in the first 5 mins from their captain for the day Laura Butler and Amber Piggott. Kildysart hit the upright a few times before registering their first score with a goal from Alana Casey. Play was up and down the field with the Doora Barefield defense fighting hard to keep out the very energet…ic Kildysart forwards. Doora Barefield scored 2 points to 1 point from Kildysart to make the half-time score 2-2 to the visitors and 1-1 to the home team.
The second half started off the same for Doora Barefield with 2 quick goals from Ailbhe Reid and Avril Lillis within the first 3 mins. Kildysart did not give up and fought really hard in the second half with 2 goals their 1st from Grace Sheerhan and their 2nd from a free scored by Niamh Maloney who also scored a point later in the half. Doora Barefield scored 2 more goals and a point in the second half goals from Amber Piggott and Millie Hadden and a point by Ailbhe Reid.
The final score line did not reflect the match as Kildysart hit the upright a few times in both halves but Doora Barefield defense were busy again Lyndsay Clarke clearing a lot of ball in the first and second half.
Well done to all the girls from both teams for a very entertaining match. Best for Kildysart were Grace Sheerhan and Niamh Maloney and best on the day for Doora Barefield were Lyndsay Clarke and Amber Piggott. Thanks to Eileen for a great report!!
